In networking, especially with social work, there are two things that are very important- how someone knows you *in terms of your competency and abilities* and secondly, the relationship that the two of you have- *how you have interacted in the past*
As an intern, young professional and practitioner (whether educator, researcher or working directly with individuals, communities or organizations), the best place to begin with is with you cultivating and demonstrating your competency then you proceed to create those relationships.
There are two opportunities in the month of November that gives you the opportunity to start building or enhancing your competency and another to build your network.
